Regular and Occasional

Another way of describing how nonprofit resourcing works is to make the distinction between its regular and occasional costs.  Regular would include rent and utilities.  Occasional might be an equipment purchase or a staff retreat.

It is mission-critical for C4L to have both regular and occasional income as well.  A simple but critical "coping mechanism" for nonprofits is to try to cover all the recurrent costs with regular income while meeting the occasional and usually larger project and capital costs with the less frequent tranches of funding.

This explanation only goes to show how important it is for an NGO to have diverse income streams.  C4L cannot make it on just one or the other.
